SCOTT PLAKON has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee. Plakon, a Longwood Republican, represents District 29 in the Florida House and recently lost his wife, Susie Rushing Plakon, to Alzheimer’s disease.

JAMIE GROSSHANS AND JOHN HARRIS have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as judges on the 5th District Court of Appeal. Grosshans, of Winter Garden, is an Orange County judge. Harris, of Mims, is a judge in the 18th Judicial Circuit, which is made up of Brevard and Seminole counties.

MICHAEL LINN has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 19th Judicial Circuit, which is made up of Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties. Linn, of Port St. Lucie, is an assistant state attorney in the 19th Circuit.

MARK HUNTER has been elected president of the Florida Sheriffs Association. Hunter is the Columbia County sheriff.

JOEL IVY has been elected president of the Florida Municipal Electric Association. Ivy is general manager of Lakeland Electric.

BOB O’MALLEY has been named vice president of government affairs for Brightline. O’Malley previously served as resident vice president of government affairs in Florida for CSX Transportation.

J. PALMER CLARKSON has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida State College at Jacksonville Board of Trustees. Clarkson, of Jacksonville, is chief executive officer and president of Bridgestone HosePower. 

STEVEN “DEAN” ASHER AND JULIAN FOUCHE have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. Asher, of Orlando, is vice president of Don Asher and Associates, LLC and Asher Maintenance Services, LLC. Fouche, of Windermere, is a former senior vice president of Disney Destinations.

RIAZUL IMAMI has been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the district medical examiners. Imami, of Port Charlotte, is chief medical examiner of District 22.

CLAUDIA KROKER-BODE has been named program director for the Florida State University College of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency Program at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. Kroker-Bode previously served as program director for the internal medicine residency at Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.

JOSEPH BROOKS has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Lake Shore Hospital Authority. Brooks, of Lake City, is chief financial officer for Haven.

VANZETTA THOMAS has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Union County Housing Authority. Thomas, of Lake Butler, is a supervisor with the Tacachalee Center. 

MICHAEL NUCCIO, CHUCK HUDSON, JOE GAY AND SARAH CLEMMONS have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Jackson County Hospital District. Nuccio, of Marianna, is a physician assistant at Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic at Marianna. Hudson, of Marianna, is a market executive for First Commerce Credit Union. Gay, of Marianna, is a general internist at Chipola Medical Associates, LLC. Clemmons, of Marianna, is president of Chipola College.
