BOBBY JINDAL has been named to the board of directors of Tampa-based WellCare Health Plans, Inc. Jindal served from 2008 to 2016 as governor of Louisiana.

STEVE SCHALE has joined The Advocacy Group at Cardenas Partners government-relations firm. Schale’s background includes directing Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign in Florida and working as a senior adviser in Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign.

SAMANTHA MIMS, PATRICK JOHNSON, TYLER RUSSELL, COURTNEY VEACH, PETER CUDERMAN AND CODY HANSHAW have been named to the general-election field team for the campaign of Republican gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis. Mims will serve as data director. Johnson will serve as director of advance. Russell will serve as surrogate director. Veach will serve as election-day operations director. Cuderman will serve as coalitions director. Hanshaw will serve as field director.

ROOSEVELT HOLMES, JOHANNA CERVONE, KIRSTEN ALLEN, PHILIP JEREZ, SUSANNAH RANDOLPH, JUAN CUBA, ALICIA STALLWORTH, MANNY OROZCO-BALLESTAS, MILLIE RAPHAEL, HAVA HOLZHAUER AND OMAR KHAN have been named to positions with the general-election campaign of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum. Holmes will serve as political director. Cervone will serve as communications director. Allen will serve as deputy communications director. Jerez will serve as statewide deputy political director. Randolph will serve as statewide constituency outreach director. Cuba will serve as Hispanic outreach director. Stallworth will serve as African-American and Caribbean outreach director. Orozco-Ballestas will serve as youth outreach director. Raphael will serve as statewide Hispanic outreach consultant. Holzhauer will serve as statewide Jewish outreach consultant. Khan will serve as senior adviser.

MONICA MORRIS is being nominated by President Donald Trump to serve on the U.S. Parole Commission. Morris is a former member of the Florida Parole Commission and serves as executive director of the Association of Paroling Authorities International.

CARMINE MARCENO JR. has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as Lee County sheriff. Marceno, of Fort Myers, has worked at the Lee County Sherriff’s Office since 2013.

JULIE CHENEY has been named president and chief executive officer of the Florida State University Alumni Association. Cheney currently serves as executive director of alumni relations at Coastal Carolina University.

BETSY BOWERS has been named vice president for finance and administration at the University of West Florida. Bowers was appointed interim vice president last year and previously led the university’s Internal Audit and Compliance Department.

SCOT LAFERTE AND BRIDGET PALLANGO have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Endowment Foundation for Vocational Rehabilitation (Able Trust). LaFerté, of Windermere, is senior vice president of human resources at Universal Orlando Resort. Pallango, of Miami, is senior vice president of Goodwill Industries.

GORDON FORNELL, DEWEY DESTIN, JAMES NEILSON JR., T. PATTERSON MANEY AND VICTORIA HARKER have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Mid-Bay Bridge Authority. Fornell, of Niceville is a retired United States Air Force lieutenant general. Destin, of Destin, is a former attorney with Anchors Smith Grimsley and serves on the Destin City Council. Neilson, of Destin is a retired United States Army Reserve staff sergeant. Maney, of Shalimar, is a retired Okaloosa County judge. Harker, of Niceville, is a former special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

ANN BLOUNT has been named the 2018 Woman of the Year in Agriculture, an award sponsored by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Florida State Fair Authority. Blount joined the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences in 1988, and she currently serves as an extension specialist and professor of forage breeding and genetics for the UF/IFAS North Florida Research and Education Center in Quincy.
